内容記述 The effects of gamma irradiation of a part of the body on the scale allograft rejection of thegolden crucian carp, were studied. Regions of the head, abdomen or tail of fish in coresponding to the lymphoid organs were exposed to 4kR of γ-rays from lateral side. Lead of 5 cm in thickness was used for shielding experiments. The degree of rejection in scale allografting was estimated by counting the number of breaking down melanophores on scale allografts. Increasing area ofγ-irradiation produced longer graft survival time concomitant with an increase in the number of deaths. In the group receiving whole-body irradiation, all died within 2 weeks and no graftrejection was observed by the time the fish died, while non-irradiated fish rejected allograft within a week. At the 2 week after grafting, allografts in most pattern of irradiation were rejected except for thymus- and tail-shielded, and whole-body irradiated fish. Irradiation to head region including the thymus did not affect the allograft rejection. However, shielding of the abdomen including the spleen showed the slight recovery of capacity for allograft rejection, whereas shielding the thymus, pronephros and tail had no significant effect on the irradiation damage of immune system. From these results, it is considered that the abdomen including spleen rather than the thymus, pronephros and mesonephros is important in restoring a capacity for allograft rejection in irradiated fish.
