| 内容記述 | Female-specific serum proteins (vitellogenin) and their derivatives in egg yolk proteins of red sea bream, Pagrus major, were studied immunologically, electrophoretically and chromatographically. Using immunoelectrophoresis employing antiserum against vitellogenic female serum absorbed with male serum, we identified at least two female-specific serum proteins in serum from vitellogenic and spawning females as well as in serum from immature fish treated with estrogen. The two female-specific serum proteins appeared to differ antigenically. The molecular weights of the two proteins were estimated by gel filtration to be approximately 430,000 and 320,000, respectively. Since the two major egg yolk proteins in extracts of red sea bream eggs were found to have molecular weights of 210,000 and 190,000, vitellogenin may undergo structural conversion upon uptake into the eggs. | |||||||||||||
