内容記述 | The seasonal variation in chemical composition of several brown algae, Eisenia bicyclis, Sargassum horneri, S. piluriferum and Hydroclathrus clathratus, which have been taken at Ago Bay from March 1982 to March 1983, were investigated. In E. bicyclis, total ash was 33.2% (dry basis), crude protein was 10.5%, alginic acid was 34.0%, mannitol was 12.9%, and crude fat was 1.6% in January 1983. The total ash of this species showed considerable seasonal variation, minimum in summer (13.9%) and maximum in winter (37.4%), while the other chemical components did not show so remarkable variation. In H. clathratus, the total ash contents were higher in 1983 (maximum 74.8%) than in 1982 (maximum 38.1%). Chemical analyses for S. horneri and S. piluriferum were done only in winter time, because there were too many phytal animals attached on the samples in spring time and both species disappeared in summer time in this sampling area. The ash contents of both S. horneri and S. piluriferum showed similar tendency to H. clathratus. | |||||||||||
