| 内容記述 | Observations of fishing gears and fish behavior are very important for technological investigations of fishing operations. In 1989, the first timer controlled underwater video camera was developed and this prototype was used for observing fish behavior in trawl nets during deep sea commercial fishing. However, because of its weight and size, its use on small coastal vessels and fishing gears was limited. To overcome these problems, we re-designed and re-engineered the underwater video camera for operation in coastal fisheries surveys. The re-engineered cylindrical underwater pressure housing is half the size of the prototype and has a diameter of 170 mm and length of 500 mm. In this configuration it is possible to record 30 minutes of video by timer control at depths up to 1,000 m. The revised camera pack was used on coastal commercial otter trawls to monitor fish and fishing gear interactions. In this report, we report on the design concepts and specifications of a timer controlled underwater video camera pack (TVCpack). Some observation results of the coastal trawl fishery are presented that demonstrate the effectiveness of the TVC pack for fish behavior and fishing gear studies. | |||||||||||
