内容記述 For high speed coastal fishing boats, the wave-making problem is vital in estimating thier performance. In this first report, therefore, for future compution, we will examine the applicabilities of several wave-making resistance theories pertaining to these craft, and attempt to predict upcoming numerical problems. At first, the slender ship theory is taken up and some remarkable theories are examined. Next, the low-aspect-ratio planing surface theory is examined. Consequently, the classical slender ship theory brakes down at a high Fround number, which is in the range of the running speed of high-speed fishing boats. Ogilvie's bow nearfield analysis is apparently not the matching procedure between the bow near-field solution and the usual slender-ship solution to the conventional ship forms. The planing surface theory is formidable to solve, because the hull is represented by an equivalent pressure distribution on the free surface. Regarding these two theories, only one of the slender-ship theories recently presented by Maruo may be applicable. Its solution includes the diffraction effect of the diverging wave, and the singularity is eliminated in the transverse wave. And its near-field solution is formally identified as Ogilvie's bow near-field solution. The solution also identifies the low-aspect-ratio planing surface theory if the draught tends to zero at high-speed. Its computer program, nevertheless, is expected easily to degenerate into unsteady wave-making problems, as is formulated by Chapman and others. But the Neumann-Kelvin problem still remains. The examination of this theory remains as a future task. In high-speed craft, the running attitude largely varies by the hydrodynamic lift acting upon her bottom. But such quantities are difficult to estimate. This is also a future task.
