| 内容記述 | The dorsal aspect target strength functions of eight species of fish at four frequencies are presented in graphical form. Each diagram presents the value of the target strength as a function of the tilt angles ranging from -50 (head-down aspect) to 50 (head-up aspect) degrees at one-degree intervals. The species of fish are sardine (Sardinops melanostictus), Japanese mackerel (Scomber japonicus), spotted mackerel (Scomber australasicus), walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma), sea bream (Pagrus major), yellow tail (Seriola quinqueradiata), Japanese horse mackerel (Trachurus japonicus) and Pacific saury (Cololabis saira). The frequencies are 25, 50, 100, and 200kHz. The sources of the data were obtained by controlled measurements performed in the sheltered inlets of Japan with depths deeper than 15 m for six years (from 1981 to 1986). A description of the method of measurement of the dorsal aspect target strength function is given in the Ref. 8 (MIYANOHANA, ISHII and FURUSAWA, 1989, in press). Terminology of this data base is as follows : The code number associated with species name specifies the year of measurement, serial number of fish, and number of measurement. For example, the number "5112" means the second measurement for the 11th fish performed in 1985. Under the number, total length (T L), fork length (F L), body depth (B D), body width (B WD) and body weight (B W G) are listed. Under fish size, four diagrams of target strength function are arranged in order of frequency. In each diagram, the ordinate is the target strength (from -60 to -20 dB), and the abscissa is fish tilt angle (from -50 to 50 degrees). In the diagrams, "NOISE" denotes the noise level calculated by the same method as for the target strength but without fish. Target strength values which are comparable to the noise level are not reliable. Although this is a problem one should never ignore, this phenomena is never observed at the main part of the functions. Therefore, it is not a serious problem. | |||||||||||
