内容記述 | Relationship between Cd and PO₄ off the Ryukyu Islands was investigated. Water samples were collected using acid-cleaned Niskin bottles attached to CTD-RMS system, aboard R/V "Yoko-Maru" of Seikai National Fisheries Research Institute in May 1998. Preformed Cd and PO₄ were estimated from the equations as follows : Cd(P) = Cd(m) - AOU·a/138, PO₄ (P) = PO₄ (m) - AOU/138 where Cd(P) and PO₄ (P) are preformed Cd and PO₄, Cd(m) and PO₄ (m) are measured (observed) ones, respectively. AOU represents apparent oxygen utilization and "a" denotes the ratio of the regenerated Cd to PO₄ (nM/μM). Cd vs. AOU plot indicated the slope of 0.00105 (nM/μM) and 0.145 (nM/μM) as "a" above 400 m. Preformed Cd and PO4 were nearly zero in surface layer and increased with depth below 400 m, and reached approximately 0.7 nM and 1.2μM, respectively in deep water (below 1,000 m). The relationship between Cd and PO₄ showed a clear deviation. Above 400 m, the slope of the regression line was 0.131 (nMcd/μMphosphate), and this value was much the same as the regeneration ratio of Cd to PO₄, which suggested that regeneration process might be a main factor that regulated the correlation of Cd and PO₄ in this layer. Below 400 m, the Cd/PO₄ ratios increased gradually with depth to the almost constant value of 0.36 (nM/μM) below 1,000 m, which is considered to be attributable to the apparent conservative mixing between water masses with originally different Cd/PO₄ ratio (different preformed values), in deep and shallow layer. | |||||
