| 内容記述 | Microscopic counting work was made to compare the number of tintinnid protozoan individuals provided by the two methods of settling-sedimentation and membrane filtration on the water samples collected in the Bay of Ariake-kai, western Kyushu. When tintinnids were counted by the settling-sedimentation method, smaller tintinnids were underestimated by 40-90% due to concealment with suspended matters in sea water. On the other hand, the number of tintinnids which was counted by the membrane filtration method was higher than that of preceeding one, since suspended matter became transparent with emersion oil submerging, and it made possible to observe the bodies of tintinnid clearly. It is concluded that using the membrane filteration method is adequate to observe and count the specimens of microzooplankton associated with much suspended matter. | |||||
